THE HISTORY
Pottery
urns have been used around the world for thousands of years.
Beautiful and durable urns were sensitively made by skilled craftsmen
who took great care in their craft.
It was during the Neolithic period in history
that pottery urns were first used, in Germany, Hungary, Great
Britain, Greece, Syria and Palestine. During the Bronze age,
about 1400 B.C., urns became widely used. Cremation and the use
of pottery urns spread from India to much of Eastern Asia, including
Korea and Japan.
Handmade pottery urns have also been extensively
used in South, Central and North America. In many societies around
the world, the use of pottery urns has been reserved for the
wealthy and most honoured in society.
Through the ages, skilled craftspeople have
taken great care to produce beautiful, durable urns to honour
special people. Today the tradition continues
